Namaste future Dragons,
In two short weeks, we will be face to face in the Island City. As we write this letter, we are reminded of the anticipation that comes before all great adventures, no matter your experience or motivations for joining. We hope that, like us, you get a big grin on your face when you think about it.
There are so many reasons to be excited for India, and for our time together. Our impulse to explore is inseparable from our locus of origin, but it is often difficult to answer the question, “Where do you come from?” As educators, we are curious to know your stories and play a part in them. Both our journeys to Dragons and to India has been circuitous:
Arivin’s grandparents are from Afghanistan and India, he was born in Thailand, spent his adolescence in Hong Kong and Singapore, studied economics in England, worked in Germany (where I left my hair) and then finally, miraculously, ended up in India where for the past 8 years he has taught incredible young people committed to making our future more peaceful and sustainable. The Himalayan peaks and the Goan jungle are a long way from the small corner in the south of Macedonia where MJ spent her childhood. She has spent the past 15 years in relentless pursuit of an education and adventure across 4 continents, leaning into the delight and discomfort along the way.
We are excited to meet you very soon!
Looking forward to it all,
Arvin and MJ
