Creatively made by Alyssa Kuwana as she biked alongside Jeff around the Island
After two pit stops to fix flat tires and a lot of photo opts, we finally looped around the 16 kilometer mango shaped island. We followed our fearless 12 year-old leader, as our bikes all clunked and clanked over the ridges of sand and rocks.
Eventually, Udom showed us his secret short-cut where we carried our bikes over a small fire and walked our bikes along a narrow ledge.
The big banana leaves smacked our heads and we eventually made it back to the main road. We had just enough time to make it to the beach for sunset. We excitedly ran into the river, splashing with our new friends.
Before we headed to our home for dinner, we showed off our fantastic gymnastic skills (limited to cart wheels, round offs, and crooked hand stands).
We thanked our new friends and headed back before it got too dark, where our host families waited with our big bowls of rice–a dish we desperately needed after our intensive cardio workout. Our food comas and long day in the sun lead us to a good night’s rest.
