What’s up guys? My name is Jackson and I’m from Exeter, New Hampshire, so yes, I am another New Englander in this group. I’m actually also turning 19 in March, Nicole. I graduated from Exeter High School last spring, and 2 weeks later went backpacking in Vermont. I was in the woods for a month on The Longtrail, going up the entire state of Vermont starting from Massachusetts all the way to Canada. More recently, having the opportunity to hang out during the day with my Golden Retriever, Ruby while my family is all at school, has been a perk. I have been working at a Mexican restaurant rolling burritos for the last five months, so I can’t wait to go someplace new.
I really started loving yoga with the free time I have now as I’m not going to school. I try to do it at least once a day. I also really love music, almost all genres except country (sorry, if that’s your thing!) I can’t really play much, although I pick up my ukulele when I can. I’ve skied since I could practically walk and anytime I have the opportunity to put my skis on, I take it. Although, I haven’t been able to go much this season. I love long boarding in the summer and bombing hills. I surf and skateboard as well… I’m not too great at either yet, and I do almost anything else you can do on a board.
I’m excited for the comparative religion part of this program because I love learning about other religions, even though I do not consider myself religious. My senior year in high school, I took a comparative religion class, and it was my favorite class I took in all four years of high school. I have a tendency to talk a lot, and love being social. I think I may be a bit frustrated at first trying to communicate as we learn the native language. I’m also really excited to meet a lot of new people from all walks of life.
I apologize ahead of time as I’m usually pretty bad remembering names, but I’m excited to meet you guys and definitely ready for a long strange trip!
