Cruising by foot in Kumaon

Amazing day 4 in Incredible India! SCHers are definitely top notch troopers. Today we did a 9 mile hike to Bajnath Temple. It was surprising because, as India goes, the terrain was tougher than described, a good 7 miles of downhill/uphill off road walking through the gorgeous terraced rice fields that the hills of India are famous for. We left the guest house this morning with our host from Lakshmi Ashram, and made our way to Bajnath Temple – a 9th century temple dedicated to the Hindu lord Shiva. This group never ceases to amaze me in their willingness to push themselves through the physical and cultural challenges that are India. Here are just a few pics to describe this lovely day, and we’ll hand it back over to the kids for more snippets tomorrow.
