Today we begin our trek into Nacion Q’eros. We will spend the next few days trekking and staying with local communities as we learn more about their ways of life and Andean Cosmovision. On the evening of Sunday the 24th, we will be returning to Cusco and beginning our mid-course reflection time where students should have some time to access the internet.
The Q’eros people are one of the most traditional Andean groups in Peru. They live in a remote part of the Vilcanota mountains, where they escaped during the period of the Spanish conquest. We will be staying with families in small stone huts along our route, learning about the Q’eros cultural lineage and way of life.
Here is a photo with our guide and dear from Siwar Qente, who blessed us with a Q’eros ceremony last night to wish us well for our journey.
