Our first days together…

Dear Friends and Family of our Peru Adult Program,

Our first few days in Peru have been spent in the Sacred Valley of the Incas in the town of Urubamba.  Here we stayed at a beautiful family run eco-lodge with a big garden and introduced everyone to this magical land. We have done several activities in small groups, such as exploring the town, hiking to the ruins and the salt terraces that are still in use by the local community of Maras, having lunch with the children and staff of the Niños del Arcoiris school and learning about their inspiring project.  We have also had a Spanish and Quechua language lesson and participated in a local Yunsada’ dance ceremony.  Last night in a lovely ceremony we  took our time to listen to each other’s personal stories.  It’s hard to believe that we only met each other 3 days ago. Now we are in Pisac and this afternoon we will be going to our community stay at Paru Paru. For the next 4 days you will not hear much from us as we will be engaging with the local people in this remote area of Peru.
