The trip so far has been great and I have learned many new things. To start, the people in Guatemala are all nice and helpful. They appreciate life more and value the small things in life. This perspective on life has made me stop and think about how I view life and what I value. In addition, I have learned about the language and culture of Guatemala and particularly how important coffee is to the country. An example of culture is the traditional Mayan music which replicates the sounds of nature perfectly. The music is great to hear and I enjoyed listening to it. Overall the trip so far has opened my eyes to the differences in culture and what I can take from how people in Guatemala behave and act.
I’m also having a lot of fun hiking and eating great food. One highlight was swimming in a pool on a mountain we hiked up.
