Reminiscing our birthday celebration in Patan

We celebrated with Annika her 21st birthday during our last week in Patan. Birthdays are special in a way that it gives us time to reflect, celebrate and give gratitude for life. An Astha Chiranjeevi Puja was held for Annika. In Sanskrit “astha” means eight and “Chiranjeevi” means immortal. With flowers, fresh fruit, a banana leaf, red vermilion, and sweet yogurt we paid homage, to the eight immortals of the Hindu dharma and the kalash (a water pitcher usually made out of brass, copper or other metal) which represents Goddess Kali, Lakshmi and Saraswati the powerhouses of supreme feminine consciousness and energy. To bless Annika with longevity, prosperity and wisdom.
