After three days of rain in Lakeside Pokhara, the clouds cleared up for us to start our Mardi Himal Trek. We started with a gentle 3 hour day, easing ourselves into our 12 day trek. The Annapurna range hides behind the clouds for now, but with some luck we will be walking with a full view of these majestic mountains.
The students are rising to the occasion: leading us on trail, setting up camps, working with kitchen crew to serve and clean up, and starting a game of Dungeons and Dragons. They’ve also been incredibly kind and compassionate to each other, checking in with their friends and making space for everyone’s needs and interests on trail.
You can expect the students to be out of touch during this time, but the instructors will be staying in regular communication with the office through their phones when there is network, and a satellite phone when there is not. We’ll have updates here on the Yak board every few days!
