Café De Patan

Scattered lights
Indistinct chatter,
A humming coffee machine
A worker’s shadow;

Footsteps coming
Footsteps going,
Nepali art,
A ringing bell.

To attempt to capture your essence
Would be to describe you
Bit by bit,
Sentence, by sentence.

But that wouldn’t do,
Because you see –
The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
