I call my mom my moon momma and she calls me her moon baby. Everytime I look up at the sky and see the moon, I know my mom is with me, watching over me and making sure i’m okay. Half way across the world I haven’t physically seen my mom for the past three months, but every night I see her in the sky and feel she’s doing the same. During the meditation retreat in NamoBuddha, there was a full moon. Vivian and I did Tarot using the moon’s energy to harvest positive manifestations. The card most drawn to me turned out to be “the empress” which symbolizes creation, nature, and “the mother”. The card says “the empress is the mother, or the goddess, of the tarot. Her energy encompasses all that is warm, fertile, creative and sensual in the world. Her strength comes from being gentle and compassionate, and loving withing out binding. When this card appears, it’s pointing to either a maternal relationship in your life in your life or the side of yourself that wants to love more. The empress also suggests it’s time for you to reconnect with nature. Go outside tonight and find the moon.”

I realized that no matter how far from home and for however long, I always have the moon in the sky to remind me of home and my moon momma.
