Sending Gratitude

Dear friends and families,

What a journey it has been. Over the last three months we have seen each one of our students transform and grow in a thousand different ways. As a group, we have learned how to travel together, to respect each other and the world around us. It would be false to say that it was always easy. But like all adventures, if it were easy we would have not learned as much.

The last week we have been in Transference. A time set aside to slow down, to reflect on what our experience in Indonesia has meant to us, and how we will bring our leaning forward when we return home. We have also been thinking about all the people in our lives that have contributed to our ability to have this experience. Just know that the students have been thinking about you. There have been beautiful moments of shared gratitude for brothers, sisters, moms, dads, grandparents, best friends (and pet dogs and cats!), that have played a significant role in the students journey here in Indonesia.

As instructors, we would also like to extend our gratitude to you. To each parent and sibling and loved one that has been a support for our students. We know this has been a journey for you too. It is not easy to send you child half way across the world for 3 months – we thank you for your trust. We thank you for allowing your child to take time to find out more about the world, and in turn to discover so much more about themselves.

They will be returning home in just a couple of days. You all must be so excited, and also quite nervous. They are too. Your child is also going through a lot of emotions during this transition, and it might be a slow process figuring out how to express everything they have gone through in the last 3 months.

With gratitude,
