Dear group C families and friends,
The group is currently mid-way through their Nación Q’eros excursion, the most remote part of their itinerary. They are hiking through very small mountain villages that have lived virtually untouched by the outside world for the past 500 years, ever since the period of Spanish conquest. The team has limited connectivity, but was able to send this short update via Satellite messaging this morning:
After hiking uphill for around 3 or 4 hours we reached the sacred lake called Yanacocha. Here we carried out a cleansing ritual with the sacred water. Reenergized, we continued on to our homestay high in the mountains. We woke today to snow covered landscapes and beauty everywhere.
The photo above is of a typical Q’eros homestay.
