X Phase!

X Phase has finally arrived! We will be out of contact for the next 6 days, so while we are off the grid, here is an itinerary of what we will be doing.

Day 0 – April 17th

Drive all day to Abancay and meet our guide Edson. Then together with him we will continue driving to the town of Capulio, where we will be spending the night with community members.

Day 1 – April 18th

Start trekking that morning. 7 hour walk until we reach the next community where we will stay with families.

Day 2 – April 19th

6 hour walk to Choquequirao where will meet homestay families that we will be spending the next 3 days with. Another 2 hour day hike in the afternoon to nearby ruins.

Day 3 & 4 – April 20-21

Staying with families. Exploring Choquequirao ruins and participating in daily family activities.

Day 5 – April 22

We will walk for 10 hours, which will be the longest day of the trek.  We will be staying with another community that night.

Day 6 – April 23

This will be the last day of hiking. We are expected to walk for 6 hours, and it is supposed to be the most beautiful day on trek. We will also reach an altitude of 4200 meters, which will be the highest point of the entire trek. That night, we will sleep in the town of Llanama, with community members.

Day 7 – April 24

Wake up bright and early and drive to Cusco all day. Arrive to Cusco late that night.

Day 8 & 9 – April 25 -26

These two days we will spend getting to know Cusco better. We have a variety of activities planned, such as, attending a theater show, participating in a chocolate making class, and getting to taste new foods! The night of the 26th we will leave Cusco for Copacabana, where transference will begin.

We are all super excited for this experience, and a lot of hard work on our part has gone into planning these next 10 days. We will update you all with pictures and experiences when we arrive to Cusco!
