Welcome to the Yak Yak board. This will be our number one place to communicate before the course begins. Once we begin our adventure, this is where we will share observations and details about our location and plans so our friends and family back home know we’re safe. We’ll post essays and poems, art, photographs, and all sorts of other responses to the new environment we’ll be stepping into. You’ll also be encouraged to share reflections on your travels and anecdotes from your time with your home stay families. At the end of our course, the Yak board is where we’ll share goodbyes to the Silk Road and share the lessons we’ve learned. Who knows? Years down the road you might come back to visit the Yak board. There’s no wrong way to use the Yak board.
For our first task, please write an introduction to yourself (with a photo of yourself) and share anything you else you’d like. Present yourself to us the way you want to. You could share your hopes for the course, photos of your dog—whatever. Let’s start the process of coming together!
Check the group’s Yak page frequently. Important information on packing, home stays, and more will be posted in the coming weeks. If you have any questions, please post them here also. The odds are that somebody else has the exact same question but may not be comfortable enough yet to post it.
Feel free to post images, questions, quotes, worries, or anything else, and please share this link with your family and friends so that they can live vicariously through you on this journey.
Guardians, neighbors, family members, friends, pets—you can write here too! In fact, we’d love it if you did. We’d love to hear your questions, wishes for the group, or any other message you’d like to share publicly. We want to Yak board to be lively and connect all the members of our community.
Questions or concerns you feel don’t belong on the Yak board’s public space can be sent to Jody Segar, who you already know, or your instructors: Luke Hein ([email protected]), Noam Backner ([email protected]), and Chen Haoting (Tindy) ([email protected]).
Looking forward to reading your biography Yaks soon!
