Regarding mosquito nets— we apologize if the original packing list was confusing.
We will mainly stay at guest houses or hotels, where mosquito nets are not needed. However, we will do a home stay (approximately five nights) in structures where mosquitos may likely find their way inside. Your host families families may not have mosquito nets for you. While we do not require you to sleep with a net, many past students said they felt safer and more comfortable with one.
There are a few options: some of young may have small portable hammocks with built in mosquito nets. Those are great! If you don’t already have one, though, don’t worry! You can purchase an inexpensive net in Myanmar or find one in your home country. For example, there are tons on Amazon Prime. We recommend simple ones for single or double beds that can be hung. They don’t need a metal frame. Your home stay family will provide string, which is often suspended from a ceiling or a wall. The net falls around your sleeping area, and you crawl in and out, then tuck it around your mat
Hope this answers your concerns! As always, don’t hesitate to ask any questions.
