Hello everyone! My name is Jeanette and I live in Seattle, but I’m originally from Queens, New York. I’m going to be a senior in high school next year. I’m an editor in my school newspaper, and enjoy investing my time in ceramics, and other types of art. This will be my first time ever traveling to South America, so I’m really excited to finally be able to go, since I’ve always wanted to go because my dad and grandmother are from Colombia.
I would say my connections to Peru are eating at Peruvian food with my dad and grandma when I visit New York. I have really enjoyed the seafood, which consists of things like clams, mussels, calamari, etc. I am currently working on my Spanish in school, and I will continue to study it after I graduate. I’m excited to hopefully be able to use some Spanish skills in real life situations, so I can get closer to achieving my goal of becoming fluent. Personally, I’m really excited to see the Amazon, and the types of birds and animals that live there. I also am interested in meeting the homestay families, and learning about their ideals, and ways of life that differ from my American lifestyle.
I can’t wait to meet all of you in Miami!
