My name is Felipe Carvalho Dias and I’m from São Paulo, Brazil. I’ve lived in Brazil my entire life, and have never been to China. Although I have gone to the US various times, I’ve never been to any part of Asia. That’s what makes this trip so exciting. The closest thing that I have done to this Program was a two week trip in the middle of a mountain-range in Brazil (Outward Bound is the name of the program).
There are various prospects of the trip that I am exited for. Being able to immerse myself into a culture that is not my own and is completely unknown to me will undoubtedly be an amazing experience. Also, being able to do that in a group of peers that I’ve never met before will change me forever as I will have a family (so to speak) scattered around the world that I will remember and hopefully keep contact with forever. Making these close bonds while exploring an unfamilar yet interesting world will devolop me as a person and create an unforgettable experience. The journey ahead of us has endless paths, and I have no doubt that we will all go down these paths and return as better individuals, enriched by the culture around us, and fascinated with the uniqueness of our world.
Now, a bit about me: I love the grand majority of sports. Although volleyball is my favorite, I take great pleasure in playing any sport with friends. I have a pretty diverse tast in music. One moment I’ll be listening to Rock (RHCP, Foo Fighters, Alabama Shakes, Jimi Hendrix, Artic Monkeys, Living Colour, etc.), the next you’ll catch me listening to Jazz or Bossa Nova(Brazilian Genre), or maybe even pop. I speak English, Portuguese, and a bit of French. I like reading, and value nature, adventure, and new experiences.
I’m incredibly excited for the Silk Road trip. I can’t wait to meet all of you in person and to face the adventures ahead of us.
