Today we had the opportunity to experience a day in the life of a local Chinese family. We were able to shadow our families, helping out in any way we could while getting to know each other a little more. Most families work in the field picking tea leaves while others roast the tea leaves. I was lucky enough to experience picking the tea leaves. At first my homestay Auntie kept correcting me on my tea picking skills, but after around four hours of confusing directions, I figured it out. Although it was extremely hot and tiring, it was an amazing experience not only to see how the process works but also to physically do it. These women are truly amazing to be working so hard–even on a Saturday morning.
