Arrived in Kashgar

There is a drastic change between Xining and Turpan. As soon as we stepped off the air conditioned train in Turpan we were hit by a wave of 105 degree heat. The taxi drivers were blaring songs in Arabic. The Uyghur people of Turkic descent look, dress and speak so differently than the Tibetans, Han and Hui of Xining. It truly feels like a different country. Here’s a short video and a few photos of our time in Turpan. We’ve just arrived in the far western city of Kashgar where we’ll spend a few nights before crossing the border into Kyrgyzstan!
