Peru 4B just spent two glorious days exploring Cusco. We cheered on Peru in the Copa America final against Brazil with hundreds of other people in the Plaza de Armas. We climbed many stairs up to the Jesus Cristo statue overlooking the city to watch the sun set golden over terra-cotta rooftops. Some adventurous students tried Alpaca meat for the first time. Gabriel taught a fun lesson about the song Latinoamérica by Calle 13. We took a salsa lesson and had plenty of free time to explore the Mercado. We are adjusting to the altitude and now we are making our way to Paru Paru for our 5 night homestay at Parque de la Papa. We look forward to learning about traditional methods of harvesting potatoes, learning a little Quechua, camping overnight for the first time together, and learning more about medicinal plants, traditional arts and music. Students will be posting their next yaks from Ollantaytambo on July 15.
