Today was our last day in Tiquipaya, and we hosted a fiesta despedida (good bye party) for our lovely homestay family and friends in Tiqui. The students presented what they have learned and created over the past 10 days during their Independent Study Projects, and then the students performed a few U.S. typical dances for their host families to learn! We also enjoyed a delicious traditional Bolivian feast made by Doña Leti and Doña Carlota, two of the amazing host moms.
After the goodbye party, Valentina Campos (the host family coordinator and longtime Dragons family member) led a Q’oa, a traditional Quechua offering to la Pachamama (Mother Earth). It was a beautiful way to end our time in Tiquipaya, as we transition to our next adventure — El Alto, instructor Ana’s stomping grounds! We will take a night bus from Cochabamba tonight, and arrive in El Alto at about 6 am tomorrow morning. The journey continues! Jallallah, Bolivia!
