After half an hour of trip in pick up, surrounded by mountains, volcanoes, diverse cultures, and fresh air, we crossed some small towns to arrive to Quixaya. Quixaya means “heart of the water” in the Mayan language kaqchiquel, a warm place in which more than 40 water sources form a river. The community takes care of the river, which is used for tilapia farming, various crops and agro-ecological tourism. We visited some plots and we also enjoyed a swim in the pools !!!
