The mountain of Ausangate is roughly 21,000 feet up in the air. I was only 15,000 feet in the air and I still felt lack of pressure. Most of the trek I felt ill with a cold or mild altitude sickness. Although I did not feel great it did not stop me from learning about and enjoying Ausangate. The trek itself was a new and challenging experience. I am not used to long hikes and camping, but I managed to find parts of it that I really enjoyed. Overall my time in Ausangate was well spent learning about the sacred spirit of the mountains and the people who live around them.
