My journey to Nepal is quickly coming to an end . I am certain one of my most memorable experiences will be the time spent with my homestay family. Instead of “homestay family”, it would be more appropriate to just say “family.”
Swayabhu and Sharmila are amazingly warm, loving and generous souls. They wear their hearts on their sleeves. I will always remember the delicious meals we shared together, my 6 am morning walks around Patan with Sharmila, our many shared laughs and the times Swayabhu insisted I FaceTime with his friends and family around the world as proof “Barack Obama” was living in his house. I also appreciate their wonderful children for welcoming me into their home and unselfishly sharing their space.
As a Dragons participant, we were encouraged to bring a book to read as we travel. I brought the book “Dreams From My Father” by Barack Obama. The smile on my brother Swayabhu’s face when I presented my book to him will forever remain etched in my heart.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
