The definition of serenity. Photo by Hannah Richter (2015/16 Semester Photo Contest Finalist), Indonesia Semester.

Hey everyone! My name is Jasmine and I’m from Long Island, New York. I’ve been running around all day doing some last minute packing (I’m a really good procrastinator) so I’ll make this intro quick…

I got my first taste of living abroad when I volunteered at a school in India for a summer. I loved it so much that I continued to volunteer abroad during the successive summers in Cambodia and on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in Montana. I’m really excited to continue to learn and explore through cross cultural experiences in Indonesia! I’m interested in global politics and gender issues, and am hoping to study Public Policy when I get to Princeton. I was part of my school’s Global Awareness Club, where we led many protests and walkouts on campus. I also started the Gender Equality Club to create a safe space to speak freely about gender discrimination. This summer I volunteered at Planned Parenthood to continue my interest in women’s rights.

In my free time I love reading, running, and watching Netflix. Besides saying goodbyes to my friends, my main activity for the last few days has been trying to binge watch all my shows before I leave! One of my favorite activities with my friends (that I’m really going to miss) is long car rides with the music blasting. That being said, I can’t wait to meet everyone and take on this new adventure together. See you guys tomorrow!
