Hi everyone! My name is Alexandra, and I’m from Cambridge, Massachusetts. After four years of high school, I am very excited about the opportunity to take a step back and reflect on who I am outside my home and the classroom before going to college. This summer, I have been spending time with friends and family, along with shadowing a neurosurgeon at a hospital in Boston.
I am very excited about this new adventure because it’s nothing like anything I have done before! The main thing I am looking forward to is trekking because I love to be outdoors. I am also eager to learn about the different facets of Nepal’s culture, such as religion, food, traditions, and language.
After Nepal, I am planning on getting certified as a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) and learning about art history and western civilization through a program in Italy. Later in the year, I am also planning on walking part of the Camino de Santiago in Spain. I don’t have the smaller components of my gap year outlined, but I also want to learn how to cook and take classes in painting and pottery.
I look forward to meeting everyone in a couple of weeks!! 🙂
