I did it. I am here. But, it all still seems so surreal. The beginning of any journey is taking the first step. And like any good journey, there are often side adventures and mishaps along the way.
An awesome side adventure (en route to Nepal), was my stop over and time spent in Doha, Qatar. Everyone I met there was kind and welcoming. Not because it was a part of their job description, but because it was a part of their character. Everyone in Doha ended our conversation with “please come again” or “it’s great having you in my country” or “you are always welcome here”. It seemed a little disingenuous to repeat this chorus (with a straight face), because of the current mise-en-scene in the sweet land of liberty.
It is certainly the mishaps that strengthen us as travelers and individuals. A close call with lost luggage… But, who needs fresh underwear and soap to shower after 24 hours of flying anyway? Lost medication! Small potatoes! I got this….
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far I as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth…
I am here Nepal
