Hey guys!

My name is Max, and I live in Darien, Connecticut. I just finished my sophomore year at Hamilton College; however, the past two years have not been quite the experience that I expected. When I think about school, I am passionate about the life-long friends and great professors that I have met, but I find myself not as excited about academics in the way that I used to, making it hard to focus and do well in class. This summer I decided it was time for me to step away from the classroom and hopefully return to Hamilton next year with a greater confidence and sense of purpose, so that I can make the most out of the education that I am lucky to have. During this time I hope to face non-academic challenges that build life skills, and, of course, to meet some awesome people like you all along the way :).

Just a bit about myself, I have studied Spanish for about 9 years now, and it is my major. At this point, I would consider myself socially proficient; immersion is certainly the next step in my studies. Aside from school, I am very much a people-person, but I might actually prefer dogs (who knows). My family has two golden retrievers that I absolutely adore, and to this day no movie has made me cry more than the notorious cinematic production of Marley & Me. I love playing and watching sports including hockey, lacrosse, football, and tennis, and in my down time, I enjoy watching Netflix, listening to classic rock, hanging out with friends, and reading authors such as Márquez or David Foster Wallace. Also, I hope everyone likes cards! My friends and I always used to share card games as a rainy day activity, so I thought I’d bring a couple decks.

I can’t wait to meet you all in person and to go on some great adventures together! See you guys in 9 days!!
