I’m Reeve Schroeder, and I live in Great Barrington, MA. I can’t wait to meet all of you in person, but for now, here is a brief introduction.
This past summer, I spent one month navigating around Europe. When I wasn’t desperately trying to find a restaurant that would air the World Cup, I spent time sightseeing and trekking with family, and visiting friends. Since then, I have been spending quality outdoor time with friends (mainly my dog), a little too much time scooping ice cream and eating all the toppings, and, of course, preparing for this semester. In my downtime, you’ll most likely find me drinking iced coffee, listening to Broadway showtunes (and Latino music), or playing cards with my brother.
I am a huge fan of outdoor exercise, as I spent my highschool years on the soccer, alpine skiing, and (just this year) the ultimate frisbee teams. As much as I loved the athletic components of these teams, my best high school memories were definitely performing a dance routine with my soccer team at the talent show, jamming to throwbacks on the bus after games, and writing a diss track about the boys soccer team.
Junior year, I spent five months living in Chile with a host family and attending the local school. Eventually, I learned Spanish and was able to understand what I was being taught in my classes, as well as everything else going on around me. My five months in Chile were some of the most meaningful and formative months of my life, and my experience was a huge factor in my motivation to participate in this Dragons program.
I cannot wait to be back in South America, speaking Spanish, connecting with a wide range of people, and exploring new landscapes. I know there is so much to learn from the people and the land of Bolivia and Peru, as well as from all of you. I am so excited to get started 🙂
