Las Ratas Trinchera

Our first day in Sucre was spent running around the city center talking to locals and getting aquainted with our new home.  Sucre is a vibrant city with diverse architecture and friendly people willing to help some confused American teenagers.  As the constitutional capital of Bolivia, the city has a rich history surrounding politics and we got to see campaigners for the upcoming election in October.  After exploring 25 de Mayo Plaza we went into the central market where we experienced local cuisine at every stage–from fresh produce to sopa de mani.  The rest of the day will be spent preparing for our first trek in the Cordillera de los Frailes, a three day jaunt before we begin our month long homestay.

A Haiku about today:

The night bus arrives

In the morning Sucre lives

Everywhere pigeons!
