My Intro!

Howdy! I’m Gabrielle Narcisse (some call me Gigi), I’m 18, my pronouns are she/her, and I’m from Montclair, NJ (30 min from NYC). I just graduated from high school and decided to take a gap year before starting at NYU Gallatin next fall. This gap year is about a myriad of things for me: it’s about trying new things, exploring myself, meeting new people and new places, learning outside the classroom and further forming my identity out of an institution. This summer has actually been much more chill than my past summers. I’ve been spending time with my friends and family and painting.

I love film photography, dancing, filmmaking, painting and drawing, and listening to music. In highschool I started a fashion club called FAB (Fashion and Beyond) which explored the intersections of fashion with business, culture, identity, art, etc. and was actively involved and lead one of the social justice and diversity initiatives at my school.

I chose this course for many many reasons. I love traveling and being in nature (but I haven’t gotten to do a trip like this since middle school). I’ve been studying Spanish for quite a while and I would really like to be fluent. This course is also focused on a lot of topics that interest me, such as the history of colonization and indigenous peoples, social resistance movements, etc. I am confident that this course will teach me a lot and I hope you all are interested in learning about my perspectives! Can’t wait to meet you all 🙂
