I’m McKenna and I’m from New Jersey! I’ve lived in the same small, rural town my entire life so I’m very excited to travel during my gap year and learn more about myself and our world before going to college. Next year I will be attending Duke University and although I will be in the engineering school I am interested in many different fields such as public health, environmental studies, pre-med, etc. (basically incorporating science with helping people).
In high school I kept extremely busy with extracurriculars, exercising, sports, school work, and a social life. I wanted to take control of my life and finally do activities that I’ve always wanted to do but never had the time, along with things I never imagined doing throughout my gap year!
I chose this program because of the balance between non-conventional intellectual experiences and physical endeavors. I am particularly looking forward to learning about Ayurvedic medicine, Buddhism, and meditation.
I can’t wait to meet you all in less than ten days (ahhh). I look forward to reading more and more intros as September 15th approaches 🙂
