Dear Friends and Family,
Today the group began a 3 day excursion of the famous Salar Uyuni salt flats. This route will take them through the vast remote salt plains, up into the high desert full of colorful lagunas speckled with flamingos feeding on the abundant algae, herds of vicuñas, alpacas, and lamas, and incredible rock features shaped by the wind.
The student group has taken on the challenge of planning this mini excursion in preparation for the student led expedition later in the course. They have done an amazing job jumping in and taking ownership of their individual group roles.
I’ll let the students share more about their experience in just a few days. Until then, enjoy this photo of the group today on the flats. The endless view of salt creates an optical illusion and incredible photographic opportunities. I promise we didn’t shrink them to the size of ants!
