Paubha Painting

As our time is nearing down in Patan, ISPs are in full swing and coming to a close. Audrey and I are working on Paubha painting, which are intricate paintings of gods and goddesses. While we don’t have time to work on much detailing, our sketches still require focus and a steady hand. Audrey has already started using color, and I will begin today.

The colors are made using a mortar and pestle and different types of minerals and rocks. Each time we need to use a color, we grind the powder and add some water. Here are some progress photos. Mine is the goddess standing up, and Audrey’s is a fire goddess with skulls as a necklace. I wish I could remember the names of the goddesses, so I will have to work on that.
