At about 130 am on Wednesday morning we were awoken by Sandy and Jac with great news; we were Peru-bound! Everyone packed up their rooms and we headed downstairs to drive to the airport. At this point Leo, Owen and I were greeted with a fun surprise…because the first flight was full, we were (randomly?) chosen to stay behind in Bolivia with Sandy until the next flight at 8. Being the last Dragon’s students in Bolivia, it is an understatement to say we were nothing but proud. Finally, around 3 am it was our turn. We packed up the car and were off to Peru! Or so we thought…but now, as I sit here writing this yak at a Ruby Tuesday in the Santiago airport, you can see something went a little wrong.
When we got to the airport in El Alto, we were quickly reunited with the rest of the group right before their flight and then promptly separated once again. We took an early morning stroll around the airport and afterwards I took a well deserved floor nap. Finally, it was time to check our bags! but check our bags to where? Santiago? This was surely new news to us and a bit out of our way to Peru. A detour to Chile was never in our plans, but if we didn’t have this wonderful opportunity then how would we ever prove that We Heart Chile!
