Hello Families and Friends!
Next Thursday morning, Nov 14th our team will head to Lhasa for a one-week stay in the Tibetan Autonomous Region. We will visit Potala Palace, Johkang Temple, and Barkor Street to name a few of the destinations on our itinerary.
Our time in this part of Tibet (U-Tsang region) will end with a visit to Everest Base Camp. On our way to Everest we will witness (non-cloudy weather permitting) the five tallest mountains in the world.
After our time in Tibet proper, we will fly to Shangrila (northwestern Yunnan) for a few days of rest before venturing into our final homestay of the course in Yubeng, Yunnan. Our week with families will include day hikes and learning about this third and final region of Tibet our group will visit: The Kham region.
Finally, we will conclude our course with more student led travel to the historic small city of Lijiang and Tiger Leaping Gorge, a gorge surrounded by mountains in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River in western Yunnan.
Before flying home on December 6th, we will have a few days outside of Kunming in a village called Damoyu to process and reflect on our experience together in the final phase of our course called “transference.” This will be a time to discuss how to “transfer” our learning back home as well as a chance to say goodbye to the friends we have made along our journey.
Sending you all our best wishes from Kunming before our impending travel phase!
