Day 1

We began the day with orientation and lunch at The Dining Room, where we experienced a fusion of dim sum and Shanghainese food. After lunch, we observed a large group of people gathered for some unknown person who would be coming out of the building across the street. We never actually got to see the presumably famous individual. Then we toured the largest Starbucks in the world and explored the Bund. There, we interviewed locals and visitors with a number of questions that we devised in teams. For dinner, we took a ferry across the river to a food court by the Oriental Pearl Tower, where we were able to explore a variety of Chinese cuisine with individual stipends. At the end of the day, we took the subway back to the hotel for some much needed rest.
