Winter Excursion Travel Plans

Hi friends and families!

As difficult as it is to believe (and trust us, when it’s over 90 degrees everyday you have a hard time remembering that it’s already December), our winter travels are nearly upon us! We wanted to share a rough outline of our itinerary, so that you can track our progress on google maps or just have a rough idea of where in the world we are.

Dec 18th – 21st: We’ll spend two days exploring Komodo National Park, on the western tip of Flores Island based out of the city of Labuan Bajo, and possibly have a Dragons meet dragons encounter

Dec 21st – Jan 3rd: The group will settle in to a rural village near Bajawa, Flores in the foothills of the (dormant!) Inerie volcano (pictured). We’ll spend two weeks in homestays with this farming community, getting a sense for life outside of Java.

Jan 3rd – 11th: We’ll spend a week crossing the island of Sumba, exploring natural beauty and learning from locals about the unique aspects of Sumbanese culture and beliefs. This will also be our opportunity to pause and reflect as a group on our experience thus far and set our intentions and goals for the second half of our time in Indonesia. If you’re referencing a map, we’ll be staying first in the port town of Waingapu, and then onwards to Waikabubak and Tambolaka.

Thanks for following our travels! We’ll try to get a Yak posted about once a week, but please note that access to wifi will be limited as we travel through remote areas. Happy holidays to all!
