Counting Down!

My name is Sean and I’m super excited to meet you guys in Chile.  I’m not the best at talking about myself, so I appreciate HMI for challenging me this early into the course.  I’d describe myself as a person that is outgoing and loves to joke around and laugh with people.  I like meeting new people and believe that everybody has something in common that they can connect over.  I also love anything outdoorsy.  Growing up, my family wasn’t interested in camping and hiking, so I am trying to make up for lost time!

A couple things I’m most excited about for the course is being immersed in Spanish language & culture and pushing my limits.  I have a base in speaking Spanish and think it would be great to continue to polish my skills while also being in the middle of such a rich culture.  I also think that the best way to learn and become a better person is to try things hands on and push yourself.  I’m hoping to be a little outside my comfort zone over the next three months and seeing what happens!

When people ask beach or mountains, the answer is easy for me.  Ever since I was little and my family would go skiing out West, I fell in love with the mountains.  I love the nature, energy, and spirit of the mountains.  One thing I admire most is how long they took to form.  I really appreciate massive things like Redwoods and mountains because they took incredibly long amounts of time to become the beautiful things they are.  I’m thrilled to be fully immersed in the mountains and can’t wait to re-connect after a too-long hiatus.
