Hi from San Miguel!

Hi all! Biz and Nell here!

We can’t believe it has already almost been two weeks! It feels like just yesterday we were in the Guatemala City airport having just arrived!

After two relaxing days at a beautiful organic farm getting to know one another and Juancho (our onsite coordinator here), we arrived into the bustling town of San Miguel! After meeting our families and going our separate ways towards our new homes, we both quickly discovered the challenges we faced not knowing any Spanish. Needless to say, the English to Spanish dictionary has become a close companion…!

After a few days, we settled into our new routines: days filled by Spanish classes, time with our families, and exploring San Miguel. We also discovered our love for Guatemalan “pan dulce” – a sweet bread served with each meal… And after a few days and a few dozen rolls, we decided it was time for the gym. Luckily, Zoe knew just the one to go to!

The pictures attached to this Yak are from our very first Crossfit Class here in Guatemala. We sweat a lot, laughed a lot, and definitely still need to adjust to the altitude 😉

We also went on our first solo adventure to Antigua the other day! We spent the afternoon exploring the beautiful, historic, and busy city! And before we left, we made sure to make a stop at our favorite ice cream spot where they have our favorite flavors: corn and rice!

We send all our love to our family and friends reading this! We miss you all very much!

Xo,

Biz and Nell
