The first few days in Boulder have been hot, busy, and wonderful. We’ve spent time talking to a lot of different people with different perspectives on the land and water. From the last Arapahoe woman in Boulder to a water manager at a nearby reservoir, the conversations we’ve had continue to remind me how many forces are at play on every subject of tension in our world. On one hand, I dream of seeing water left untouched and wild. But on the other, there are certain things we need to interfere with in order to sustain the rapidly growing population. These are just two examples of the conflicting feelings I’ve had. Thinking about all of these worldviews led me to make this painting. We are all the eyes of our own worlds, but that doesn’t mean our understandings are stagnant. I’m excited to keep expanding mine.
