Sorry for my lack of yaks throughout the course, I’ve been busy hiking and farming and being too lazy to write. I thought that maybe I should write something sweet before this is all over.
This has been one hell of a trip… We’ve hiked more miles that I’ve hiked throughout my entire life, we’ve kissed wolves, we’ve driven through three different states and been to so many different farms, we’ve conquered mountains, some more literally than others. I remember meeting all of you for the first time and being complete strangers and now, after ten weeks, I’m having an extraordinarily hard time grappling with the fact that I’m going to have to live without y’all’s company. I’ve learned a lot from our hosts, guest speakers, and instructors but overall I was most heavily influenced by my peers. Climbing through passes, building pizza ovens, and learning about permaculture are all enjoyable moments throughout the trip but honestly my trip was shaped by the moments I shared with y’all. Moments like me and Mae’s room in boulder, the deep and never-ending late night conversations with Mare, the long walks with Rachel and the rest of y’all, sharing a raft with David and laughing until our stomachs hurt, and so many other important moments that I could write pages about… I give full credit and thanks to my group for the wonderful experience I’ve had. I have no doubt in my mind that we will see each other again, and soon at that, but leaving y’all will definitely be the most challenging part of the trip.
Thank you all so much, it wouldn’t be the same without you.
