Hey guys, my name is Celie, which is pronounced like the mattress (Sealy). I’m sure I’ll live to regret making this reference. Our adventure together will take up the spring portion of my gap year, and I cannot wait to dig into some issues I’m really passionate about, and some I know less about. So far, I’m convinced that taking a gap year and spending most of it outside is the best decision I’ve made in life. This has been a year of growth and learning for me, so in lieu of an introduction I figured I’d share some things I’ve learned about myself and life this year:

  • I’m happiest when I’m outside for extended periods of time.
  • Backpacking is so hard, so rewarding, and the ultimate bonding experience.
  • Crossword puzzles are addictive.
  • It is possible to tip a canoe by accident.
  • Swimming is the best way to clear my head, think, and hit reset when necessary.
  • It’s really important to find the things in life that you enjoy doing just for the sake of doing them.
  • If you hike 19 miles in one day your whole body will be sore for the next two or three days.
  • First impressions are worthless next to everything that can come afterward.

See you guys soon 🙂
