Thoughts from your friend Jack

What’s poppin! I have learned lots about myself throughout this super cool journey so far and I am excited to learn even more about the places I am camping in. Learning about the border from El Paso, New Mexico and Arizona has shaped my views about how we can make our border patrol more effective in the right ways. What many people see on the news is that everyone who is coming into the U.S. is either a criminal, rapist or cartel member. The news puts this into our minds even though most of the people that are crossing the border are hard working individuals or families who are just trying to escape from the criminals, rapist and cartel members that are in their backyard who are forcing them out of their homes and taking their money.

Exploring and floating the Rio Grande was the coolest thing I have ever done. Camping on the Mexico side at night, seeing the stars and bathing in the river felt super refreshing. I haven’t felt this happy in a long time and I can’t believe that this is what it feels like to truly be doing something you love. #doitforkaren

To Mom and Dad:
Thank you for everything that you have done for me to get me to this point in my life!
