Saying Goodbye to the Land & the Water

Today was a pretty good day. I have been sick and therefore have missed a couple of days at camp. I came back to a pretty good last day. Although I missed breakfast, I heard it was wonderful and filled with lots of goodies like donuts that were handmade here at camp.

Throughout the day, we went through a couple of stations to reflect, and we said goodbye to camp by saying goodbye to a place that has become special to many of us. On one of the first days of camp we were taught to say hello to the water. We did this at Rock Creek, and today we said goodbye there, too. We made a Mandala with objects there that represented things that were special to us. I chose the milkweed grass that we learned to make rope out of because it represented all we had learned throughout the trip.

After the trip to Rock Creek, we came back and cleaned up our campsites and packed everything up. It’s sad to say goodbye, but we are all excited to take a real shower! I ended my night after dinner with a short hike to watch the Sun set one last time over the mountains.

Tomorrow is going to be a busy day. We are getting up at 2:00 in the morning to start our journey back to Atlanta. Many of us plan to ‘sleep’ under the stars, even though I feel as though there will not be much sleeping. I am personally excited to see the stars for one last time and say goodbye to them, we won’t see anything like them back in Atlanta. I can safely say we are all excited to see our parents and sleep in our own beds again. We will see y’all in less than 24 hours!
