Your Independent Study Project!!!

Greetings, friends!

Our special time together is coming up around the corner! I will be heading up to the Bayfield Peninsula in just a few days here, and I could not be more excited.

As our course is quickly approaching, I want to take this time to introduce you all to one of my personal favorite parts of your Dragons course: your Independent Study Project (ISP). One of the things that makes Dragons courses special and powerful is that students have the privilege and opportunity of doing a personal project, that you get to choose and design based on your personal interests! I want to plant the seeds of your potential ISP topics now, so you can start to think about what you might want to explore with a bit more intention and depth while you are here. This is not an exhaustive list and the particular topics are subject to change based on unforeseen logistics changes etc, but here is a general idea of your potential ISP topics:

  • Mycology (Mushrooming)
  • Basket weaving
  • Fishing
  • Wood-working
  • Foraging
  • Local cooking
  • Organizing tactics
  • Metalwork
  • Jewelry making
  • Ceramics
  • Boat building
  • Herbalism
  • Sailing
  • Birding
  • Woodland skills
  • Weaving
  • Music

As you pack and plan, I encourage you to think about what you might want to focus on for your ISP! Have fun with it!!! I also encourage everyone to start introducing yourself here on the Yak board — now is the time, folks 🙂

See you soon!
