Hey! My name is Emerson Paletz, but everyone calls me Emmy. I live on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, go by she/her pronouns and I am 15 years old. I play soccer, basketball, and lacrosse but I love all sports. I also love reading, running, skiing, and going to the beach. My favorite color is green and my favorite subject is earth science. I go to Brooklyn Tech High School, and I am going to be a junior in the fall.
I’ve been out west to ski before (Alta/Snowbird in Utah and Jackson Hole in Wyoming) but I have never been to Colorado. I’ve also never really been on a long hiking trip before, so I’m super excited to be able to experience living in a tent. I really enjoy learning about our earth and climate change, so me and my parents thought this would be the perfect trip for me.
Just like everyone else who lives in NYC, the water I drink comes from reservoirs and lakes spread across a watershed in the Catskill mountains. New York is pretty well known for its bagels, and this is actually because of the minerals in the water used to make the dough.
