Hello Friends and Family,
I just had a chance to meet with the student group in Gunnison, Colorado where they were staying at Western Colorado University after their orientation in the mountains. On their way to WWU they stopped over at Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratories in the beautiful mountain town of Crested Butte to learn about environmental issues in the area.
While in Gunnison the group had an engaging discussion with one of WWU’s professors about western water issues, visited the local farmers market, and did a little shopping in town. Today they started off on their trek in the beautiful West Elk Mountains. The group will be in contact with me via satellite communication until they return from trek on the 15th.
I really enjoyed meeting all your kids! They are such a wonderful group of people. I was impressed by how polite and engaging they all are. Bridger and I even found out that his mom’s cousin and my brother are in the same bluegrass band in Kodiak, Alaska. Small world!
Sorry I don’t have any current photos for you. But these are from my hike up on the same trail a few weeks ago.
