Dear Family and Friends,
Orientation has been going really well! They’ve been fortunate to have clear skies and starry nights, plenty of wildlife sightings of deer, foxes, and even a bear, day hikes in the mountains near some of the tallest mountains in Colorado, and swimming in cold mountain lakes and rivers. The student group is getting along great with frequent games of disc golf, frisbee, cards, and lots of conversation to get to know one another more. They’ve even been polishing their cooking skills every day in our camp kitchen.
Today the group is visiting a permaculture institute to learn about sustainable agriculture and bring in course themes of water and food systems. They will build on this when they head to Crested Butte tomorrow to visit the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory. They will finish out the week with their stay at Western Colorado University and participate in discussions on western water.
The group is still out of service but they were able to send me some photos during a brief window on their way to the farm. We’re all looking forward to the adventure ahead and grateful to all the friends and family out there for the support!
